There are many ideas that can be used in order to learn how to stop bullying in schools so that children can have a healthy environment in which to learn. These simple tips are some of the best ideas that parents and faculty can implement in order to protect the students from harm.
Develop Clear Guidelines
The first step that should be taken when schools are trying to figure out how to stop bullying or bullying violence is to develop a clear set of guidelines. All students in the school should be made aware of the guidelines, and it should be made clear that exceptions will not be made in any case.
Bullies respond well to adult authority figures, and if they know that there are clear guidelines prohibiting the bullying of other students, they will be less likely to perform these actions. The bad news is that very few schools currently have these bullying guidelines and rules in place in a clear and easy to understand format.
Make the Punishment Count
Once specific rules and guidelines pertaining to bullying have been set into place within the school, the next step can be taken to learn how to stop bullying. This step requires the schools to create punishments for these actions which will really count and make the bullies think twice before picking on others again.
Some potential punishments can be suspension, loss of privileges to attend school events, loss of the right to participate in sports, and expulsion. In order for the offending children to really understand what they are doing is wrong, the punishment needs to be harsh enough to fit the crime and ensure that it does not occur again.
Involve the Child’s Parents and Counselors
The next step in learning how to stop bullying in schools is to involve the parents of the bully and counselors in order to get them the help they need. Most bullies will choose to pick on those weaker than them as a way to take out aggression that is really misdirected from something that is happening in their personal lives.
Parents and counselors will be able to get to the root of the actual problem. Through counseling sessions and possibly medication the student can get help, and will no longer need to harm others in order to feed their own needs.
Bullies are everywhere today, but schools are plagued by these vindictive children. In order to learn how to stop bullying, schools need to follow the steps above and devise a strong plan of action that demonstrates that bullying will not be tolerated in any way.
